Scholarly Communication and Open Culture:

The Library adopts and promotes open tools and practices and engage in collaborative open efforts that result in an equitable scholarly communication environment.

 

Performance Indicators
  1. Library personnel make research available and discoverable to the broader community through open access publishing and the library’s institutional repository.
  2. Library personnel will enhance and increase scholarly communication outreach and instruction on campus.
  3. Library personnel develop and provide scholarly communication services to address researcher and instructor needs and to ensure ongoing access to scholarship and data.
  4. Library personnel prioritize the discoverability of open content created or supported by University Library.
  5. Library personnel support and participate in internal and external open initiatives in collaboration with other library, higher education, and community organizations.

PI1 Library personnel make research available and discoverable to the broader community through open access publishing and the library’s institutional repository.

Outcome: Campus users and public have access to scholarship produced by IUPUI faculty, researchers, and students.

Criteria: X number of works archived in IUPUI ScholarWorks (includes OAP articles, COVID-19 archiving, student ETDs and capstones, and other submissions). Increase in file downloads from ScholarWorks.

PI2 Library personnel will enhance and increase scholarly communication outreach and instruction on campus.

PI3 Library personnel develop and provide scholarly communication services to address researcher and instructor needs and to ensure ongoing access to scholarship and data.

Outcome: The campus and broader community finds library resources, repositories, and digital collections useful and reliably available.

Criteria:  X (establish baseline) number of uses of assets contained within library collections. X number of days collections are available.

OJS - 1281 issues / 21498 articles with an increase of 93 issues and 646 articles since last year.

Discussion: Many of the online applications and tools used by patrons provide usage data in some form. These numbers will be built upon in the upcoming year so that there is an understanding of increase/decrease in usage.

Key Message: While we need to wait for future years for some comparative data, the available data indicates increased usage of library resources.

PI4 Library personnel prioritize the discoverability of open content created or supported by University Library.

PI5 Library personnel support and participate in internal and external open initiatives in collaboration with other library, higher education, and community organizations.
