3 - Academic Honesty

What is academic honesty?

Because of these different cultural expectations related to attribution, it is important to be aware of local expectations. IUPUI takes academic honesty very seriously and has an academic honesty policy in the Code of Student Rights, Responsibilities, and Conduct.

Academic misconduct is defined by IUPUI as "any activity that tends to undermine the academic integrity of the institution. The university may discipline a student for academic misconduct. Academic misconduct may involve human, hard-copy, or electronic resources." IUPUI Code of Student Rights, Responsibilities, and Conduct, II. Responsibilities, G: Uphold and maintain academic and professional honesty and integrity.

Academic misconduct can include (but is not limited to): cheating; fabrication; plagiarism; interference; violation of course rules; and facilitating academic dishonesty.
