Environmental & Natural Resources Law

Full-Text Databases

There are many law journals that focus exclusively on envrionmental law. You can search for individual titles or within a database of environmental journals on Lexis (ENVLR database) or on Westlaw (ENV-TP database). If you're using Lexis Advance or Westlaw Next, narrowing by "secondary sources" and then "law reviews/journals" as well as "environment" should help you locate relevant articles.

Bear in mind that environmental law articles are published in general interest law reviews as well. If your research must be exhaustive, don't rely exclusively on the environmental journal databases but search all law journals as well.

Search Google Scholar

It is easy to find many law review citations on Google Scholar, and the relevance searching can be a boon. To access the full-text, though, you will have to use HeinOnline.

Index Searching

Indexes are designed to help you find articles that are actually about your topic rather than those that simply mention your search terms in passing. They are essential for any good lit review and for locating older articles that are not included in the full-text databases on Lexis and Westlaw.

In an index, you can search by subject as well as author and title. Once you've found a citation, you can enter the citation in HeinOnline's Citation Navigator (on left) to retrieve the full text.
