Introduction

There are museums on just about every topic you can think of, so you might consider resources relating to natural history, biology, history, archaeology, anthropology, material culture, art, motor sports...the list goes on and on...

There are historic buildings and sites, living history interpretive sites, landscapes and zoos...

Museum work can involve research into conservation, preservation, marketing, administration, exhibitions, visitor studies, volunteerism, nonprofit studies, education....

You will explore various subject databases to find articles for your museum studies topic.  You will become creative when thinking about the search terms you use and how you combine your terms.

Some examples:  specific objects/artifacts for researching items for cataloging or exhibition (e.g. stagecoach; basketry; photography); material culture; cultural heritage; cultural property, repatriation, NAGPRA, cultural sensitivity, ownership, ethics, education.  Use your imagination and think outside the box!

Use the tabs above to start your search, and if you get stuck feel free to contact me.  For general tips on library research and reference sources, check the links in the left sidebar.
