Evaluation Tools

Remember that when you're evaluating an article, you need to think about both the overall quality of the article as well as how it fits into the context of your clinical question. There are a number of tools out there to help you evaluate the quality of such as the CASP checklists available for a variety of study types. Also, don't forget to think about other issues such as the statistical analysis of the study.

CASP Checklists
This set of eight critical appraisal tools are designed to be used when reading research, these include tools for Systematic Reviews, Randomised Controlled Trials, Cohort Studies, Case Control Studies, Economic Evaluations, Diagnostic Studies, Qualitative studies and Clinical Prediction Rule.
