Instruction Librarian Position

The Instruction Librarian position is open due to the person previously in this position moving to another organization.

The Instruction Librarian will serve as liaison to the undergraduate programs in the School of Health and Human Sciences as well as a secondary role teaching undergraduate (primarily first- and second year) STEM courses. As a liaison, the Instruction Librarian is responsible for developing and maintaining strong relationships with faculty and students in assigned departments. Beyond teaching, other liaison responsibilities include research consultations, chat reference, outreach, research support including research metrics, support for scholarly communication, and awareness and use of open educational resources.

The person in this position will work collaboratively with the other Health Sciences and STEM librarians: Rachel Hinrichs, Eddy Gonzalez, Eric Snajdr, and Randall Halverson.

The paths to success will look different depending on candidate experience and skills. Due to the upcoming IU-Purdue Split in 2024 and increased institutional emphasis on the health sciences, it is envisioned that this position would, in future years, move more into the health sciences and away from STEM. With this shift, administrative support and professional development would be provided to the person in this position.
